Summary
The five year Leeds UTMC partnership represents an exciting opportunity to deliver innovative ITS solutions in Leeds. The partnership covers specification and provision of ITS systems and consultancy. CDMF is at the heart of the Leeds UTMC control room, providing operators with unified view of the road network and interfaces to the UTC and RMS. An interface to NTCC provides operators with a view of the HA road network around Leeds.
LCC's existing Car Park Guidance is currently undergoing replacement. UTMC compliant signs are being installed and these will be controlled by CDMF. A program of integrating live occupancy feeds from car parks across the city is underway.
Key to the project is delivery of real-time travel information to the travelling public. This has been achieved through a number of channels. Leeds Travel Info (www.leedstravel.info) is an innovative website delivering map-based travel information. Dynamic data includes incident data, live car parking information and live CCTV images. Static data includes rail and bus stations, blue badge spaces and taxi ranks. Mobile device users can access a dedicated site, while a real-time SMS service is also available.
Key Features
The Common Data Viewer provides operators with a single overview of the status of the network and equipment.
- The CDMF Fault Management module has been customised to provide Leeds CC with a solution tailored to their specific requirements.
- Asset management allows Leeds CC operators to efficiently manage all relevant assets
- The Strategy Integrator has been deployed and is able to detect network events, using these to trigger native commands on connected systems or warn the operator
- Crystal Reports has been used to provide a comprehensive reporting capability
- The CDV will allow council colleagues to access the wealth of data stored in CDMF, including providing access to key reports
System Architecture
The Leeds CC CDMF will integrate a number of systems:
- The Peek UTC will be integrated utilising a UTMC adapter provided by Peek. Fault and alert information will be inserted in the CDB, while the adapter will also allow operator commands invoked on the CDV to be executed on the UTC. This mechanism also supports commands from the Strategy Integrator.
- The Siemens RMS will be integrated using an adapter provided by Siemens. Fault and alert information will be available in the CDB.
- Mott MacDonald are developing an adapter to the COE CCTV system. This will allow the operator to interact with the CCTV system from icons on the Common Data Viewer. CCTV images will also be made available on www.leedstravel.info
- Car park systems including Blick Alfia and SkiData will be integrated utilising adapters. Count data will be used to drive guidance VMS and will also be made available on the website
Further integrations will include the STM system, count data and journey time information.
